What I do when I'm not doing the tech thing.

I am often referred to as a “Renaissance Man,” which is also synonymous with “polymath.” When I step away from the realms of technology and business, I frequently find myself in the kitchen, composing poetry, listening to or playing music, or engaging in gardening activities. Travel is another crucial aspect that broadens my horizons and exposes me to diverse perspectives. Engaging in diverse pursuits is essential for broadening one’s thought processes and breaking free from the limitations of narrow thinking.

The Great Ships

I first heard of the Titanic when my folks gave me a copy of Walter Lord's "A Night to Remember" in 1958. I immediately fell in love with the ship, the people, and the enormity of the tragedy.  I have been researching the history of the Olympic class and related ships since then. They were engineering marvels of the time with unrivaled luxury.

In Memoriam: RMS Titanic.

Music

I’m a singer and guitarist, and music is always playing in my home, car, and work spaces. With few exceptions, I listen to anything that matches my mood, from the mathematical precision of Bach to the melodies of Vivaldi. I find inspiration in Steve Roach’s ethereal dreamscapes and Led Zeppelin’s driving rhythms. Folk music is where my fingers and voice find their comfort. To say I have “eclectic taste” in music is an understatement. I can always lose myself in a familiar song.

Metaphysics

Once you separate the reality from the religion, the study of “The Olde Ways” becomes a study of metaphysics. Earth is bathed in an energetic particle stream from the Sun. When you spin an iron ball in such a stream, it becomes a magnet. This magnet, along with other external influences, affects the human mind, and the human mind can affect it in turn. It makes for a fascinating line of inquiry.

“Your ancestors called it magic, but you call it science. I come from a land where they are one and the same.” ― Thor Odinson

Cooking

The prevailing wisdom is "cooking is art; baking is science". For me they are both forms of relaxation and detoxification, like music. I get completely engrossed in the recipe, which is essentially a science experiment that can be savored once completed. We designed and built a kitchen that reflects our passion for food and cooking, creating a culinary paradise. While I’ve also used a toaster oven, induction plate, and microwave as my sole appliances, the key lies in the way you use the tools, not the tools themselves.
